Being the senior-most devotee in ISKCON, it is natural that our Guru Maharaja has inspired the spiritual lives of hundreds of thousands. As such, Adelaide's Vyasa Puja festival for the year 2014 was graced by the presence of many disciples, aspiring disciples and well-wishers alike. Our temple was packed with a whole range of devotees, seasoned and new, who have been uplifted by our glorious spiritual master in some way. The atmosphere in the temple from the mangala arati conch blast to the sayana arati curtain fall was surcharged with a mood of reverence for Guru Maharaja.

The Sunday of March 16, 2014 was the 528th appearance day of our most beloved Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu who is non-different from Lord Krsna. The festival which is widely known and celebrated as Gaura Purnima the world over also marks the beginning of the New Year (Gaurabda) for Gaudiya Vaisnavas. The devotees were seen working hard the day before with various services like cleaning the temple and its grounds, chopping vegetables in the kitchen, decorating the altar etc.

This year’s Rama Navami festival was –as always- well attended by devotees and guests alike. Thanks to a well organised program by Temple President HG Adi Purusa Krsna Prabhu; the appearance of Lord Sri Ramachandra was joyfully celebrated. Lord Ramacandra’s name featured in every Kirtan with spirited cries of “Raghupati Raghava Raja Ram!” Throughout the day, there were many more hands on deck. Lots of devotees and guests made time to come to the temple and help out. We had were extra helpers to cook the feast, to clean and to make garlands.

The evening program began with one of HG Veda Vyasa Prabhhu’s trademark kirtans. This was followed by a very erudite class on Lord Ramachandra by HG Shyamananda Krsna Prabhu. A packed, charged Gaura Arati came next. But before the feast, there was a surprise! HG Manju Mataji had been coaching the children of Adelaide’s Gopal’s Play School to stage a play. They delighted all with a humorous rendition of the setubandhana lila. The cheerful mood whetted everyone’e appetite for Maha Prasadam. Thanks to the cooking team led by HG Svarupa Siddhi Prabhu and HG Gaura Caran Prabhu and the feast sponsor Suraj Sharma, Rama Navami 2014 ended on a delicious note.

ISKCON Adelaide was blessed with another great event when HH Kadamba Kanana Swami paid a visit from Monday 24th to Wednesday 26th of March 2014. Maharaja had been a regular visitor to Adelaide in the heydays when ISKCON had acquired a spectacular farm in Riverina, South Eastern Australia. Lying on the Murray River about two hundred miles east of Adelaide, the farm had 10,000 hectares of arable land. Maharaja has since accepted the renounced order of sanyasa and is now an initiating spiritual master. After a long period of absence Maharaja has made this historical trip to Adelaide. During his stay he kept the crowds spell-bound with his deeply spiritual discourses and mesmerising kirtans.

His Holiness Bhaktivinoda Maharaj visited ISKCON Adelaide for the very first time. In fact this is the first time Maharaj is visiting Australia. Maharaj conducted some fantastic seminars and classes; led some wonderful kirtans and also visited South Australia Art Galleries'
