The Art Gallery of South Australia is holding an exhibition known as ‘Realms of Wonder’ dedicated to the spiritual art of India unveiling Jain, Hindu and Islamic exhibits. There is a Krishna section as well with deities, paintings and the Maha Mantra written on a wall. The star attraction is an 8-foot wooden deity of Krsna decorated and dressed by our temple devotees. ISKCON Adelaide has been cooperating and working closely with the Art Gallery right from the word ‘GO’.

There was a grand opening ceremony on the 18th of October, 2013 celebrated with great pomp and splendour and attended by about 800 prominent guests. After the chanting of auspicious inauguration prayers the Hare Krishnas led the invited guests to the gallery accompanied by cymbals, drum and the chanting of the maha mantra. The guests were also treated to a special vegetarian feast provided by ISKCON Adelaide. Also Srila Prabhupada’s books are now being displayed at the Art Gallery book shop. On the 7th of December, 2013, the Temple President HG Adi Purusa Krsna dasa spoke on ‘Krishna Consciousness’ which was well received. A sari wrapping workshop was also held on the same day at the function room. Techniques of draping the sari in variegated styles was taught by a group of ladies from our temple headed by Ms Barbara Mataji. This too was successful judging from the delightful screams heard from the participants. The festival will be held from 19th October 2013 – 27th January 2014 and admission is free so please visit if you haven’t.
